| What is Disc Golf? Disc golf is the sport of golf played discs and other round flying object of flight. Many people refer to it as "Frisbee" golf. The object is to get you disc into the metal basket in as few strokes as possible. It has existed for many, many years, but it became much more formal with the creation of the Pole Hole, the first metal target basket designed specifically for the sport. Since then, the sport has become enjoyed by young and old alike. As a recreational past time, it is a great way to get a nice nature walk in and enjoy a great game at the same time. As a professional sport, it is played by many all around the world. The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is the governing body for the sport and sanctioned tournaments. They have established a set of rules, sanction events, and run a National Tour and the Professional and Amateur World Championships, as well as the Pro and AM United States Disc Golf Championships and other events worldwide. |
